Backing Up Your Files

I can’t begin to emphasize enough how important it is for you to backup your files. Over the past 15 years of doing tech support I can’t remember how many times people have come to me to retrieve lost files. Unfortunately for the large majority of them the files are irretrievable due to a total failure of their hard drives. In 98% of the cases the computer operator has no backups of their precious files. There are several services that can retrieve your data from a failed hard drive but the cost is extensive, usually around $1,500.00 with no guarantee of success.

Backing up your files is your responsibility; there isn’t some little man inside of your computer that is going to do it for you. There are several different ways you can backup your files and I highly recommend everyone chooses one of them. You can backup your files to a removable media such as an external hard drive, a CD/DVD ROM, a thumb drive or an automated backup service such as the one offered by tellatech.net.

The first couples of choices listed above require the user to setup and run the backup tasks manually. With the offsite backup service offered by tellatech.net and other internet companies the backups are run automatically on a schedule that is decided by you.

Here at tellatech.net our office computers backup every night starting at 12:00 AM to one of our backup servers. Then every day at 12:00PM our backup servers backup to an additional server in Michigan. This gives me and my clients a redundancy of backed up data. So even if one of my servers here in Florida crashes and the data on it is lost I simply restore it from the most recent backup set on my Michigan server.

Please give us a call at 321-574-1599 to get more information on how you can backup your files and the different ways you can do it. There is no charge for us to answer any of the questions you may have about backing up your files.

Thank You
